The Department of Computer Science at Brunel University London is seeking to recruit Lecturers in Computer Science who can contribute to teaching and research within our successful and supportive department. The Department of Computer Science holds an Athena Swan Bronze award and is keen to further increase the proportion of women in the department.

Brunel’s Computer Science department offers undergraduate programmes in Computer Science and Business Computing and postgraduate taught programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science & Analytics and Digital Service (UX) Design. Successful candidates will play a substantial role in the delivery of teaching across one or more of these programmes and provide specialist support for final-year projects and/or masters dissertations. The department welcomes applicants with teaching expertise relevant to any area of our programme curricula.

Research in Computer Science at Brunel is internationally recognised, Our research is ranked 3rd by discipline in the UK by performance ranking of scientific papers and 1st for H-index (NTU, 2022).

Our department has particular strengths within the following research areas:

  • Computing Methodologies (Intelligent data analysis, AI, simulation and modelling)
  • Human Centred Computing (HCI and interactive multimedia systems)
  • Software Engineering
  • Computational Biology

The successful appointee will have the potential to contribute high quality research that enhances at least one of above departmental research areas, through journal publication, research income generation and engagement with stakeholders.

The department strongly supports interdisciplinarity and a number of university-wide research centres provide exciting opportunities to work collaboratively on key societal challenges. Computer Science staff will also benefit from co-location with the university’s new Artificial Intelligence Living Lab which is being developed to provide world class facilities, bringing together computer scientists, health scientists, social scientists and engineers.
