An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Careers Services Team to support the coordination and delivery of essential careers services delivered to our students and graduates.
You will play an important role in ensuring that careers events and programmes offering important career development opportunities to members of our community run smoothly by working collaboratively with delivery staff to organise and plan in advance.
The work of the Careers Services Team helps to change the lives of students and graduates by creating meaningful opportunities and helping them to secure and retain them through a range of services. Department
The Academic Section is part of the University’s Professional Services. It is responsible for managing all aspects of student and academic administration in partnership with Departments, Schools and Faculties. It plays a central role in delivering the University’s commitment to excellence in education across the institution and is also the guardian of the student experience.
The Student Development service enables an integrated approach towards student skills development, through the delivery of employability and careers services, academic skills support and student engagement expertise, in order to ensure that every student has the skills and experiences necessary for success in securing a good degree outcome and a successful graduate employment outcome.
Duties of the Role
The postholder will support with the coordination and delivery of high-quality careers information, advice and events to students/graduates through providing administrational support to delivery teams and ensuring that attendance records are up-to-date and accurate.
They will also provide administrational support to our careers programmes staff who oversee the planning and delivery of programmes such as Frontrunners, Career Mentoring and Rising Stars. Furthermore, they will support management with the coordination and minute taking for regular team meetings and ensure that colleagues across Student Development are informed on relevant activities.

This is a permanent part-time post working 28.8 hours per week (0.8FTE), 9am-5pm from Monday to Thursday of each week. A job share arrangement for this role can be considered.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful applicant will have a good standard of education including 5 GCSEs (grades A-C) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics. A degree (or equivalent level qualification or experience) and a relevant administrative (or equivalent) qualification is also desirable.
Additionally, they will have experience of working in an office environment, supporting with time dependent programmes or activities to meet targets and deadlines and have first class time management and organisational skills, and the ability to deal effectively with multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
A flexible approach to work to assist as and when required and a willingness to travel to the University’s campuses in Loughton and Southend are essential.
