As part of the Leverhulme Trust Research Project Grant ‘Reporting financial instruments for better markets’, Department of Accounting and Finance at LUMS seeks to appoint a full-time research associate on a two-year fixed-term contract (with the possibility to extend for an additional year), with the effective hire date of 1st September 2023.
Job qualifications: Candidates must have a PhD in Accounting (or a related discipline), with expertise in textual analysis (to be able to program in Python or other appropriate programming language in order to extract, preprocess and analyse text). Research interest in the areas of fair value accounting, bank accounting and accounting for financial instruments is desirable, but excellent candidates in all areas of Accounting with expertise in textual analysis are encouraged to apply.
About the department: Department of Accounting and Finance is one of the largest departments within LUMS – a world-ranked international business school which has topped the UK research rankings for nearly two decades. LUMS was ranked first in the UK for research power in the 2014 and 2021 Research Excellence Framework and belongs to the elite group of business schools whose programs are accredited by all three international business school accreditation bodies: AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB. It is envisaged that this position will be aligned with the academic standing of Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) as a world class international business school.
