Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Service
The Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Service provides a professional and proactive service for students within a safe, healthy and inclusive environment, and supports our students to fulfil their potential as individuals and to enable them to be active participants in their own educational experiences and the transformational opportunities available to them at the University of Essex.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Student Wellbeing Manager (Inclusion) to join the Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Service at the University of Essex to develop and maintain enhanced levels of support for some of our most vulnerable students.
Duties of the Role
The Senior Student Wellbeing Manager (Inclusion) role is an important management position which plays a key role in developing and delivering our proactive approach to improving student accessibility and removing the barriers for our students to best equip them to reach their full potential. The postholder will lead, coordinate and manage the following areas of work to deliver institutional strategic goals: Support successful transition into university for students with declared medical conditions/disabilities; reasonable adjustments; ongoing accessibility and wellbeing support by caseworkers and our short-term counselling service.
This role will actively participate and contribute towards the University achieving the Student Minds Mental Health Charter Award, driving forward projects to support these areas of work.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will utilise their professional expertise, knowledge and experience to make a real and lasting difference to students’ experiences and their success at the University of Essex. This role will require somebody with a positive and professional manner, who is passionate about working with students and has the temperament to cope under pressure and oversee multiple and complex areas of service delivery within tight deadlines. Highly developed written and oral communication skills are essential as well as a positive and flexible approach to the role and the service.
The successful candidate will have experience of working successfully with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of successful change and will have the ability to lead, engage, persuade, influence and enthuse others. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrable commitment to supporting and promoting equality and diversity and to creating an inclusive environment for students and staff.
We currently offer a generous package including Hybrid working, Generous holiday entitlement of 28 days, (pro rata for part time staff) plus a further 8 bank holidays and an extra 3 days when closed during the Christmas period.
