About the Role:
Our Sustainability Team is part of Estates and Facilities Services and leads the development and delivery of our sustainability strategy, focussing on our non-academic operations such as carbon reduction, waste minimisation and active travel.
We are seeking to appoint a Sustainability Officer to join our team to provide practical, operational, and administrative support in achieving our ambitious sustainability and zero carbon goals. This will include delivering our sustainability engagement plan, travel survey and action plan, and overseeing our utility bill payment process. You will liaise with staff and students daily, as well as external contractors and other bodies, and plan and deliver events and projects to improve our sustainability.
With a degree related to environmental sustainability or part qualified in a relevant professional qualification at degree level, you will be highly numerate with strong organisational and administrative skills and an eye for detail. Experience in a similar role would be desirable as would a knowledge of utility bills, software, and companies. Good communication skills and self-motivation are essential as is the ability to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the issues involved in delivering a sustainability agenda within a large organisation.
Applicants desiring a substantive element of home working are welcomed for this role, although attendance on campus will be required periodically.
