The role

This is an exciting opportunity to help increase the research impact of a multidisciplinary research project at the University of Bristol. The successful candidate will work with the team of researchers to promote the outcomes and activities of their research. They will play a leading role in the design and delivery of external engagement, outreach and dissemination activities to increase the reach of the research to public, research, policy and commercial audiences. 

This position is part of the multidisciplinary UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems (TAS) Node in Functionality project which is exploring how evolving functionality (adaptation) influences how autonomous systems need to be specified, designed, verified, and regulated in order to be trustworthy. The successful candidate will be working with a research project manager and a multidisciplinary team of researchers from ethics, sociology, computer science and engineering who are developing design-for-trustworthiness techniques and methods applicable to a wide range of autonomous systems, including swarm robots, soft robots and unmanned air vehicles (see: https://tasfunctionality.bristol.ac.uk/).

What will you be doing?

  • Work closely with TAS Functionality Node researchers to develop innovative methods of external engagement to support the objectives and outcomes of the project.
  • Identify ways for the project’s outcomes to reach a wide audience, including schools, general public, policymakers, and commercial developers and users of robotic and AI technologies.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of communication, engagement and outreach activities.

You should apply if

Applicants should be enthusiastic about working closely with academic researchers to increase the impact of their research. They should be able to demonstrate skills/experience including:

  • Experience of designing and managing marketing or engagement campaigns and projects from brief to completion.
  • Knowledge of research impact development and management.
  • Experience engaging with a wide range of audiences (including the public) to communicate research outcomes and gather feedback.
  • Organisational and event management skills.
