We are offering an exciting opportunity for a research assistant with a background in human nutrition to support clinical research in the Metabolic Translational Research Facility located at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.
The Wellcome-Trust MRC Institute of Metabolic Science is one of the world's leading Centres for pioneering research in Metabolism. Our vision is to take scientific advances forward to develop new treatments for obesity and diabetes. Funded by the Wellcome Trust, we have established, state-of-the-art Clinical Research Facilities with 8 beds dedicated to experimental medicine studies and trials.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated research assistant who will support clinical research activity on this unit having direct involvement in a number of research studies.
The post-holder will contribute to the design and preparation of meals with different macronutrient contents for specific research study needs. They will be trained to carry out metabolic measurements and specialist behavioural and physiological tests. The post-holder will be involved in processing blood and tissue samples taken as part of clinical research studies and will be responsible for ordering and maintenance of some core equipment. You will be required to enter and handle clinical data and support the team with administration tasks, so excellent IT and organisational skills are essential.
You will have a degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Physiology or a related subject.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a health assessment. This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.
