An exciting opportunity for the post of Project Manager at the UK Data Archive within the Technical Services directorate.
The UK Data Archive is the lead partner of the UK Data Service, which is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) to meet the data needs of researchers, students and teachers from all sectors, including academia, central and local government, charities and foundations, independent research centres, think tanks, and business consultants and the commercial sector.
Duties of the Role
The Project Manager will work within the Development team and be responsible for overseeing projects that involve Technical Services, ensuring that they are delivered on budget and on time. You will work with the Business Analyst to ensure that these projects meet their technical specifications and requirements.
The Project Manager will use the information provided by the Business Analyst to design an effective plan for projects. You will be able to define the project scope clearly, as well as the budget and timeline.
The Project Manager will identify appropriate colleagues to form project working groups. You will identify when it is required to procure external resources from third party suppliers and will manage the relationship with them. You will chair meetings with stakeholders as required and ensure that the project lifecycle is accurately and clearly documented.
The Project Manager will manage relationships between the teams that will receive the project outcome and those teams and third parties that are delivering it; you will keep colleagues updated on progress, and be able to identify factors that may delay or increase the cost of delivery and be able to work with colleagues to resolve or reduce their impact.

Qualifications and Skills required
The successful applicant should hold a degree in a field relevant to Project Management or possess equivalent experience. You will hold a high-level qualification in project management and will have managed successful projects within the field of information technology. You will have proven experience within a structured project management environment.
You will need to be able to work independently without close supervision and deliver work packages within deadlines.
Since you will be required to work with a range of stakeholders, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and a long history of developing excellent working relationships with staff at all levels of an organisation. In addition, you will have a good level of IT literacy.
The role is fixed-term, full-time until 31/03/2024 in the first instance due to the cyclical nature of the funding, with the possibility of an extension. A job share will also be considered. Please stated clearly on your application the contract type for which you are applying.
