Born in Bradford is one of the largest longitudinal birth cohort studies in the world and is internationally-recognised for research into health and disease. In tandem, BiB are working on a range of applied health projects which aim to develop, implement and evaluate ‘systems’ level interventions (for example, initiatives to improve air quality and green spaces, tackling unhealthy food environments) to improve the health and wellbeing of families. Our ActEarly City Collaboratory (funded by the UK Prevention Research Partnership) recognises that to realise this vision requires substantial and sustainable changes to the broader early life environments that have a lifelong influence on our health. Co-production is at the core of our ActEarly approach which supports the identification, implementation and evaluation of upstream interventions in areas with high levels of child poverty. The Bradford Institute for Health Research also hosts the NIHR Yorkshire and Humber Applied Research Collaboration (ARC). We have a broad research portfolio encompassing over 50 research projects which are underpinned by co-production approaches. We are looking for someone who shares our exciting vision to join us as a Co-production and Community Engagement research fellow.

The postholder will be based at the Bradford Institute for Health Research (BIHR). The Research Fellow will work under the supervision of a Co-production and Community Engagement senior research fellow and will be a key member of the Born in Bradford team. The post holder will work with senior academics from across Yorkshire establish the new Centre for Co-production and Peer Research (CoPPeR) Network.  This is a unique and novel approach which places communities in the driving seat in formulating research plans at the conception stage right through to conducting data collection and dissemination. The post holder will co-ordinate the key research and operational tasks required to ensure project milestones are achieved, and will contribute to supporting communities with dissemination and engagement activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly organised person with a commitment to community engagement to come and work on research projects whose findings will have a real impact on improving the health and wellbeing of families in Bradford and beyond. It offers a role that crosses academic and practice based public health and health services research.
