Department
The Department of Psychology is a large and vibrant Department in the Faculty of Science and Health. We occupy purpose built facilities including laboratories and state of the art research equipment. We offer an excellent education to our students, including undergraduate and postgraduate degrees accredited by the British Psychological Society. The Department is continuing to grow and has a dynamic and friendly professional services team.
Duties of the Role
We are looking for a talented individual to join our team as a Senior Student Administrator.
The main function of this varied role is to attend to student queries and to provide administrative support to teaching, exams and coursework so that these elements run smoothly and student progress is recorded accurately. You will liaise with members of academic staff and be the first point of contact for students, dealing with pastoral and other queries. You will work across all year groups, with a particular focus on and responsibility for Year One and Two undergraduate students. You will be working mostly on campus, staffing student reception in the Department as part of your duties, with some scope for hybrid working. (Currently this role is three days on campus and two days working at home.)
Skills and qualifications required
You will have excellent computer literacy skills as the work requires mastery of several online, bespoke packages. You will be able to research, understand and keep up to date with university policy. Working autonomously, you will be able to prioritise multiple demands at busy times. You will enjoy communicating with students, academic staff and professional services colleagues and working as part of a small team. You will have a good understanding of Higher Education systems and structures and the ability to learn, synthesize and to apply complex information quickly and fairly. You will have administrative experience, an eye for detail, a flair for IT and a passion for delivering a high quality, professional service.
Please see the attached job pack, which contains a full job description and person specification, which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post.
