About the role
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join a collaborative programme between the University of Leicester and the new Personalised Cancer Prevention and Treatment theme within our NIHR Biomedical research Centre (BRC) in association with the Department of Oncology, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior oncology trainee, with an interest in academic activities, to undertake a one year early phase clinical trials fellowship funded by the NIHR BRC. The primary objective of this fellowship is to provide specialist training and experience in the delivery of early phase clinical trials through the Hope Cancer Trials Centre, working with Prof Thomas, Drs Walter & Ayodele.
About you
The appointee will hold a joint integrated clinical and academic job plan agreed between the University and UHL clinical service, where the various elements are supportive of each other. You will have an active role in early phase clinical trial activity participating in new case, on treatment and follow up clinics under consultant supervision, within designated trial clinics. The fellow will also gain a greater understanding of governance regulating clinical trials.
The fellow will work with the LCRC, ECMC, and BRC to identify and be involved in clinical and translational research opportunities.
As part of this role, you will be expected to and have the opportunity to be involved in undergraduate and post-graduate teaching of medical students, junior doctors, nursing staff and allied health professionals.
The post is suitable for a clinically trained senior oncology trainee who wishes to pursue a period of out of programme experience to gain experience in early phase clinical trials.
You must be a GMC registered medical practitioner holding a licence to practice and possessing MRCP (UK) & MB BS or equivalent.
