We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Professor Kim Midwood’s lab. You will be based at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, within the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford.
You will be a member of a dynamic research group with responsibility for analysis of T and B cell responses in long term cancer survivors and mechanistic characterization of novel checkpoint signalling. Methods to be used include protein-protein interaction assays, tumor-immune cell co-culture models, and tumor killing assays. This is a highly collaborative project involving academic and industrial partners.
You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, this involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will contribute ideas for new research projects, carry out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions and research groups, use specialist scientific equipment in a laboratory environment and adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols.
You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be near completion) in Immunology, or a related discipline, together with relevant experience, have a strong background in tumor immunology and/or checkpoint biology and have experience in flow cytometry/FACS, imaging – including confocal immunofluorescence, T cell activation and tumor killing assays. You will have previous experience of contributing to high impact publications and have the ability to independently manage own academic research and associated activities. Experience of murine tumor models including pancreatic cancer is desirable.
This is a fixed-term, full time position for 24 months.
Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:
