Financial Accountant - Financial Reporting
Does your successful track record financial accounting include production of annual accounts and maintenance of accuracy and integrity of financial data? Are you looking for a fresh challenge in an environment that’s open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then join the University of East London as Financial Accountant - Financial Reporting and contribute to the development and implementation of the University aims and objectives.
It’s a particularly exciting time here at the University as, under our new 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, we’re committed to providing students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world. Our Finance teams play their part by delivering a comprehensive range of financial services to the University to cover all aspects of financial compliance plus proactive financial support to Schools, Services, staff, and students thereby ensuring value for money is achieved.
You will provide support to the Head of Financial Accounts in delivering an effective financial accounting function and ensuring that the underlying financial records of the University and its subsidiaries are appropriately maintained and that the Group meets its statutory and regulatory compliance obligations. Along the way, you’ll also get to proactively work with other sections in Finance and departments across the university to provide financial advice, guidance, and analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
In addition to a professional accounting qualification (ideally CCAB) or at the final stage towards it, you will have good experience in all aspects of preparing statutory financial statements, preferably within the higher education sector.
Computer literacy is very important too, while familiarity with Unit4 Agresso accounting software would be an advantage. You are someone who communicates confidently and clearly with a wide range of people, comfortable producing reports, interpreting financial data for audiences without a finance background. Crucially, you are great at prioritising your own workload and that of others while meeting deadlines, have excellent analytical skills and a logical and structured approach to completing tasks and solving problems.
At the University of East London, we aim to attract and retain the best possible staff and offer a working environment at the heart of a dynamic region with excellent transport links. You can look forward to a warm, sincere welcome and mobility in an institution led with passion, visibility, and purpose.
The university offers a range of exceptional benefits, including a 25 days annual leave increasing to 30 after 5 years plus bank holidays and customary closure days, pension, flexible working opportunities, an onside nursery, reduced rates for Sports Dock gym membership, cycle to work scheme, learning and development opportunities, plus many more: Benefits at UEL - Jobs at UEL.
