Do you have an interest in HR systems administration? Do you wish to contribute to an organisation inspiring the next generation of students in a world leading university?
The University of Southampton is committed to excellence in all we do, applying our insights and inventiveness to solve the most complex societal and environmental challenges. As a world-leading, research-intensive university, with a strong, high-quality educational offering, we are renowned for our innovation and enterprise and are within the top 1% of universities worldwide.
We are looking for a HR Systems Support Officer to join our HR Systems team, assisting with the running and development of the University’s HR and Payroll Systems.
The role
The HR Systems team provide essential support in running, maintaining and developing our HR and Payroll, eRecruit and Reporting systems. We also provide user support to a variety of system users and self-service customers. As a HR Systems Support Officer you will work closely with the team to help deliver HR process improvements, system upgrades, system developments and project work.
You may not have knowledge of our specific University systems (ResourceLink, Stonefish, Cognos, ServiceNow), but we are looking for someone who has used these or similar systems and can demonstrate their potential to train to be an excellent HR Systems Administrator.
The role is a full time, permanent position. The typical starting salary for this role will be £28,929 (Grade 3, spinal point 22 on the University Level 1-6 pay scale), unless you have significant experience in a similar role. Staff increment one spinal point each year, up to the top of the Level.
Your experience and skills
You will have a proven track record of working with large data sets and hands on experience of working closely with databases, ideally in an administrative role. Experience of problem solving and resolution for technical issues along with an excellent eye for detail and the ability to build working relationships with internal and external suppliers. Customer service experience is beneficial as we seek to provide a prompt and efficient service.
You will have skills in understanding and improving HR processes, and interpreting business needs into process design and system developments.
What we can offer you
As a university we aim to create an inclusive environment that attracts, supports and retains the best students and staff from diverse backgrounds from across the world. We are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society.
Based in Guildhall Square in Southampton, you will be conveniently located close to the city's amenities, with good travel links.
We offer hybrid working arrangements and flexibility as agreed with your manager.
We offer some fantastic benefits including 34 days leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days, increasing to 38 days after 4 years), ability to buy additional holiday, options for flexible working, excellent family leave arrangements (including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental and carers leave), a wide variety of on and off-campus arts and culture facilities and access to a range of staff discounts and offers at local shops, restaurants, and service providers.
