We are looking to appoint a positive, self-motivated and well-organised team player to join the ISS department.
This is an exceptional opportunity to work for Lancaster University, ranked in the UK Top 10 and one of the top universities in the world. The University is based just outside the beautiful city of Lancaster ideally located near to the Lake District.
You will work closely with the Infrastructure Management team to help develop and maintain the physical environment. Help support IT developments and integration with the wider university. The role will encompass examining new technologies and options to develop the offerings further.
You will be helping to ensure physical installations are within specification and liaising with partners from across the site and outside to ensure all relevant standards are adhered to. Furthermore develop the technical capabilities of the university working closely with colleagues from ISS, wider university and external sources.
Examples of work areas may include witness testing of CAT 6 and Fibre optic installations, liaising with facilities teams for refurbishments and new build projects. Provide support and advice for development and maintenance for campus wide alarm and monitoring systems inclusive of access control systems, radio systems maintenance and programming. Providing short notice on site advice and support to university staff and suppliers.
Knowledge of current safety standards including electrical, optical and radio frequency as well as installation of Fibre and Cat 6 standards is required when evaluating tenders and requests for changes.
The role is based at the main Lancaster Campus.
You will be creative, forward thinking and help shape the university for the challenges ahead.
You will need excellent organisational and communication skills, a courteous and professional manner together with an enthusiasm for working in a project and program environment.
You will have an opportunity to complete an appropriate apprenticeship.
