This is an exciting opportunity to come and work with the International Relations and Politics Team in the School of Law and Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University, delivering courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

We are looking for a full-time Teaching Fellow for a period of 12 months to deliver our existing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are looking specifically for someone with expertise in the area of International Political Economy. The post holder will teach core International Relations modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level concerned with International Political Economy, Global Governance and Global Civil Society. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and teaching on core and specialist International Relations modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Teaching students using appropriate instruction methods, setting and assessing students’ work, and providing lecturing and seminar support on other modules in International Relations (as appropriate).
  • Supervising and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate students’ dissertations.
  • Contributing to curriculum development including planning, evaluation and updating of courses and course materials.
  • Caring for the pastoral needs of students including counselling, welfare and guidance.

You should have:

  • A PhD in International Relations or a closely related discipline or be near completion.
  • Experience of teaching or demonstrable potential to teach International Relations and Politics at undergraduate and postgraduate level, specifically in the areas of International Political Economy, global governance and global civil society.
  • Experience of, or demonstrable ability to, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and lead modules.
  • A commitment to the delivery of an excellent student experience, placing our students at the heart of all that you do.
  • The ability to work collegially in a team and independently.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
