Applications are invited for this key role based in the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies (CLAS). CLAS is a leading centre for the study of culture, film and media, modern languages and American and Canadian studies. We offer first degrees, and both taught and research postgraduate degrees and deliver internationally recognised research across our departments. We work closely with The University of Nottingham’s campuses in China and Malaysia.

One of two Assistant Operations Managers based in the School Management and Research Office (SMRO), the purpose of this role is to ensure successful delivery of the School’s HR and recruitment responsibilities as well as responsibility for the Management and development of School-specific recruitment and admissions activities. The role holder will also work closely with the Faculty Operations Manager on School policy and discrete projects and provide line management to members of the team.

Applicants should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) or have a proven track record of extensive relevant work experience. Candidates will also be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a proven ability to communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels. An ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues is also essential. An awareness of the Higher Education sector, University decision making, structures and procedures is desirable, as is an understanding of HR processes and previous experience of designing publicity materials and promoting/managing events.   

The University has developed a clear set of core expectations and behaviours that the role holder will be expected to demonstrate and evidence of these will be considered in addition to skills, knowledge and experience during the selection process.

This is a permanent, full-time role (36.25 hours). Arrangements for job share would be considered.
