The School of Advanced Study – a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence in the promotion and facilitation of research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It comprises eight research institutes as well as centres in Digital Humanities and Public Engagement. It has four recognised specialist research libraries.
The Institute of English Studies
The Institute of English Studies is one of nine member institutes of the School of Advanced Study, University of London. In addition to running over twenty-five seminar series in all topics related to English Studies, the Institute hosts and organises around thirty conferences each year and provides diverse study and training opportunities. Its mission is to: promote advanced study and research in English Studies in the wider national and international academic community; facilitate academic discussion and the exchange of ideas through its comprehensive events programme; provide a centre for excellence in English language, literature, palaeography and the history of the book; and offer opportunities that promote excellence in English Studies, by means of events, fellowships, research training, consultancy, and publications.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Institute of English Studies including finance, stakeholder relations, resources, staffing, records and statistics management, and reporting.
The successful candidate must have experience of organising key administrative functions including finance, planning, human resources, working with committees and maintaining records as well as the ability to work collaboratively with academic and professional service staff.

The University currently operates a Hybrid Working framework involving a mix of working remotely and in the office. Typically, the majority of employees will be able to agree to work remotely for up to 60% of their working week, role dependent, however will be required to attend on specific days for training or team meetings.
