About the Role
You will work with academic partners and other stakeholders to design and deliver effective careers education, information, advice, guidance and other support, helping clients to acquire the skills and resources necessary to plan and manage their careers and to secure appropriate employment or further study.
Clients may include any or all of current undergraduate and post-graduate students, graduates, pre-entry students, post-doctoral students, early career researchers and other staff of the institution. You will collaborate with colleagues on activities that enhance the quality and effectiveness of SOAS Careers Service. Additionally you will represent the service and institution to internal and external stakeholders.
We are recruiting for one full-time permanent role and one full-time maternity cover. Please indicate in your application which of these opportunities you are interested in. Part-time and job-share applications are welcomed. You will join a team of around 11 Careers professionals, and be line managed by the Careers Consultant Team Leader.
Your responsibilities will include:
Develop clients’ careers management skills through designing and delivering career development learning activities
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with colleagues, academic staff, administrative staff and other stakeholders
Conduct a range of short and long guidance/coaching interactions to support clients with all aspects of career decision making and career development
Gather, analyse and use research and data on clients’ career development needs and employment destinations
Develop and maintain appropriate professional knowledge and awareness of the graduate labour market
Undertake collaborative projects to create products and services that enhance career management skills
