The Senior Research Development and Awards Manager is a key contact in the Research and Knowledge Exchange Office and will play a strategic role in delivering our commitments for research and knowledge exchange external grant capture as outlined in our Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy Making a Difference (2022 – 2029).

External income acquisition is a named institutional priority, contributing to Westminster’s continuing ability to prioritise funding opportunities which have clear and compelling potential for societal impact, ensuring diverse research, researchers, impacts and output modes which reflect our commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include proactively leading on establishing and embedding a programme of activities to develop, expand and grow research income and grant acquisition targets. You will provide regular overviews and reports of research activities with income generated and be responsible for devising, embedding and maintaining fit for purpose research income acquisition processes, policies and procedures that provide a first-class experience for internal and external stakeholders. You will also provide effective management of the Research Development team; support University Equity and Inclusion aims and identify and secure new strategic opportunities for research and innovation income generation. 

The post will contribute to the development of a research environment underpinned by an inclusive research culture where colleagues are encouraged to explore their full potential including a range of research careers and opportunities. 

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience and success in competitive, external research grant acquisition and full economic costing principles, in the Higher Education sector. They will be familiar with the most common funders for research in the UK and have an up-to-date knowledge of EU and International funding opportunities available to UK-based researchers. The successful candidate will have proven influencing and communication skills and professional networks which will facilitate the development of large funding bids for the University with external partners. They will be able to evidence a commitment to implementing a continuous programme of evaluation and improvement for research grants and awards management.
