Hours: Part Time

The role

We are looking for a well-organised, confident and proactive administrator with experience of events organizing, data management, marketing and social communications. This is to support the Principal Investigator leading a 5-year project on Amazon deforestation. The project, entitled INFRACURSIONS, aims to develop a comparative study of ‘incursion economies’ defined as deregulated economies that result in environmental destruction. The study will focus on clandestine land grabbing, illegal logging, and prospector mining in the Amazon Forest and will gather multi-disciplinary data to explore the historical, experiential, social, legal, technical, and cross-cutting features that make up these incursion economies.

What will you be doing?

  • Organise, promote and deliver a range of internal and external events.
  • Provide general administrative support - managing mailing lists, purchasing, booking travel and hotels, and supporting the Principal Investigator and research team with recruitment and adhoc tasks.
  • Support INFRACURSIONS team meetings – managing diaries, setting up meetings, minuting and updating actions.
  • Assist with financial tasks.
  • Lead on maintaining relevant websites, SharePoint Sites, social media accounts and newsletters.
  • Design and prepare a range of documents and publicity material.

You should apply if

  • You are enthusiastic and self-motivated individual looking for an opportunity to combine an administrative role with events organising, data management, marketing and communications.
  • You like to be busy and have proven administrative experience working in demanding environments.
  • You have significant event management experience.
  • You have excellent organisational skills along with flexibility and initiative.
  • You can build effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues at all levels of seniority, including from other organisations.
  • You are passionate about environmental issues. This role would be particularly suitable for a candidate finishing up or having recently completed a PhD, and who would like to continue working within a research environment.
