The opportunity:

The Business School Student Development Team is seeking to recruit a full time (35 hours), open-ended Business Engagement Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Student Development, you will work collaboratively with the Business Engagement function within the team to proactively and effectively engage with businesses, industry bodies and membership organisations, promoting the mutual benefits of collaborating with our School, our academics, our students and programmes across a range of activities, creating, managing and nurturing a positive client experience that results in strong, impactful and long lasting relationships.

The Post holder will be a member of a team providing an effective service in all aspects of Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate Taught (PGT) programmes and associated courses and will be a key point of contact for Head of Group and associated programmes and courses.

You will form part of a wider Student Development team, and will also work collaboratively with others in both the academic and professional services teams across the school, contributing to the overall student experience provided to students throughout their time with the School.

The role shall be based within the Business school, 29 Buccleuch Place (Central Campus) with opportunities to combine a mix of remote and regular (60%) on-campus working. 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • Educated to at least degree level or equivalent relevant experience in a similar or related role(s). 
  • Experience of working in both business and higher education environments, and/or able to demonstrate a good understanding of overall business practices in each and how these might drive the development of beneficial relationships. 
  • Strong relationship and project management skills, presentation and influencing skills – capable of presenting with authority to prospective students, academic faculty, School committees, and corporate clients 
  • Helpful and supportive team player, capable of delivering to team goals
