Join the University of Reading’s UK Recruitment and Outreach team to support prospective students and applicants, and particularly those who are from groups under-represented currently in Higher Education.

In this role you will have three main strands of activity: As part our wider programme of information Advice and Guidance for schools, you will be responsible for the delivery of  strategic, regionally based outreach, recruitment and conversion (post application) activity within Berkshire, specifically identifying,  targeting and working with prospective students and applicants from under-represented groups. 

Secondly – you will lead on project-based activity to support transition aimed at Year 13 students ( Access Reading). These projects include: developing and managing our online transition and study skills resources and delivery an in person event for students with contextual offers.

Thirdly, working with the Henley Business School to support their widening participation and undergraduate recruitment targets through organising subject based activity such as talks in schools/colleges, subject based visits to campus and taster days.

The role involves working independently, strategically and proactively; managing projects and resource; and organising designing and delivering activities and events. You will also be personally representing the University to potential students, their parents and teachers; and building and maintaining strong networks of internal and external stakeholders, particularly with schools and colleges.

In doing so, your activities will directly increase applications and acceptances to the University of Reading from this area, particularly from groups that are under-represented at the university.

You will have:

  • A first degree or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a post 16 setting in a UK student recruitment or outreach role or similar
  • Understanding of the widening participation agenda in an HE setting
  • Ability to work independently and work to objectives with minimal supervision
  • Experience of event organisation
  • Experience working with external stakeholders and developing relationships

The role will be based in Reading but may involve some travel further afield to UCAS or 3rd party fairs.
