The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is seeking to recruit an outstanding individual to lead our Building Services Team. Shared between CIMR and the Mitochondrial Biology Unit (MBU) you will be responsible for the efficient and reliable day-to-day running of the Keith Peters Building.
This senior role is essential for the smooth operation of the Building. It includes proactive and reactive maintenance, together with special projects. Management from inception to completion, together with the accountability of these projects forms a key area of the role. You will manage a planned and breakdown maintenance service for all mechanical and electrical plant and services within the Building, involving colleagues from the University Estates Division and external contractors where necessary.
Working closely with senior managers, you will also be responsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of any alterations or refurbishments within the Building. You will also act as the Fire Safety Officer to the Building and be responsible for the management of Health & Safety of the Building Services Team. You will manage a Maintenance Technician and an Electrician Technician and be responsible for overseeing contractors and University's Estates Division staff involved in work within the building. You should demonstrate a customer-focused attitude, have excellent communication and organisational skills and prior supervisory experience would be highly desirable.
You should have relevant experience of working in a mechanical/electrical maintenance environment within the industrial or commercial sector. Although you should ideally have experience in operation and maintenance of BMS, mechanical services plant, HAV (including steam operated heating systems), and 415v electrical distribution, consideration will be given to less experienced applicants with potential to learn and develop into the role.
