This collaborative project between Coventry University's Centre for Manufacturing and Materials (CMM) and Pillarhouse International aims to develop an optimized nozzle cleaning flux and ultrasonic cleaning system to enhance selective soldering operations.
The Role
The KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) Associate, guided by both a university and an industrial supervisor, will be tasked with developing and managing the research program and collaboration between Coventry University (CU) and Pillarhouse. The project focuses on developing, monitoring, and supporting the scale-up of a new flux and automatic flux delivery system at Pillarhouse International in Chelmsford, while also exploring new markets and selective soldering applications.
This high-profile project offers the Associate the chance to work with experts in selective soldering and material science, and to apply technological expertise in an industrial setting. The innovative nature of the project, combined with the opportunity for joint commercial and academic supervision, provides an invaluable experience for anyone aspiring to become a proficient formulation chemist/electronics industry specialist.
Qualifications Required
At least a 2:1 Honours (or equivalent experience) and a Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related subject.
PhD experience in one or more of the following areas: surface chemistry, materials science, formulation chemistry would be beneficial.
Our Successful Candidate
Essential skills include proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques and good laboratory practice, as well as excellent verbal and written communication, proficient IT skills, and laboratory experience.
Advantageous skills include excellent time management skills, strong interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities, as well as experience in formulation chemistry, surface chemistry or material science. Industry experience is beneficial, and knowledge of product design, CAD software, and project management skills would be an asset.
