Being part of a thriving and energetic team, you would join our new directorate and help us to deliver a key pillar of our university strategy, ‘Empowering People’. Our role is to enhance our employee offer in relation to leadership and management, reward and recognition, voice and experience, health and wellbeing, and to ensure our polices, processes and systems enable digital solutions, swift decision making, equal access and autonomy.
People Services has a rich portfolio including people partnering, policy and employee relations, wellbeing, international, pay and reward, operations and support hub, as well as talent, learning and organisational development. We strive to provide a great experience for colleagues, so they enjoy being at work and are able to achieve their potential.
Role
As a Senior HR Advisor focused on delivering policy and projects, you will play a pivotal role in managing and developing HR policies within People Services, ensuring they align with university goals and best practice. You will oversee a rolling programme of policy review, create and implement new policies, and provide expert HR advisory support to senior managers and teams. A key requirement of the role will be the continuous horizon scanning of the internal and external environment, to enable the proposal of changes to policies and processes that keep the university safe from a legal and regulatory perspective.
This role also involves project management responsibilities, collaborating with stakeholders across the university to foster culture change, drive continuous improvement, and support organisational development initiatives.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional with in-depth knowledge of policy development and employee relations.
Excellent written communication skills and experience of writing and maintaining HR policies, guidance and other supporting materials for a range of audiences are essential. You will also possess strong project management skills, with the ability to lead HR work-streams and drive corporate projects to successful completion.
Furthermore, excellent stakeholder management and communication skills are vital, as you will engage with trade unions and senior leaders to ensure that policies align with organisational needs. A forward-thinking and proactive approach will be crucial in ensuring HR policies support continuous improvement, cultural alignment, and organisational development. Previous experience in an educational or higher education setting will be advantageous.
