About Us
Since its launch in 2001 UEL’s Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) has brought together research and development of innovative eco-efficient technologies and processes, focusing on changes in infrastructure that benefit the environment and promote a carbon-neutral society. Over the last ten years, the SRI has successfully delivered a wide range of publicly funded research projects, undertaken a number of consultancy contracts and contract research initiatives, and built an excellent local and international reputation by applying ground-breaking research and knowledge exchange in the real world.

About the Job
This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant (trainee) level researcher to join a multi-disciplinary team with prime responsibility to assist the environmental fieldwork and environmental testing in different projects. You will be reporting to the SRI Senior Laboratory Manager and will be working alongside the SRI researchers and students across the three research themes on research and consultancy projects in the Institute, taking sole responsibly where appropriate. This role represents an excellent opportunity to develop comprehensive experience of a diversity of research skills.
About You
We are looking for an Environmental Research Assistant to provide key support to the SRI researchers and research students and collaborate across the SRI environmental research teams.
To be successful in this post, you will demonstrate an ability to undertake field and Laboratory research. This can include supporting Green Infrastructure and Sustainable Society fieldwork and/or remote sensing approaches. You will also have experience of conducting analytical tests in a laboratory setting, ensuring safe working practices through training and risk assessments, and managing inventories of materials.
