Aston University’s Eye Clinic handles approximately 8,000 patient episodes annually and supports the largest Optometry teaching programme in the Western world. We are seeking a General Optical Council registered eye care professional who possesses exceptional organisational and marketing skills to help grow the clinic. This individual will be responsible for negotiating contracts with local NHS and commissioning bodies, as well as introducing new services that benefit the local community. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player and a strong clinical entrepreneurial leader, capable of managing a large and complex clinic team while balancing clinical, educational, and commercial priorities within a teaching practice.
As Clinic Director, the Clinical Fellow will lead the Eye Care Centre, ensuring high-quality, efficient management aligned with College and School strategies. They will apply their clinical expertise to support the academic community, professional services, and external partners, while being professionally accountable to the College of Health and Life Sciences.
The Clinical Fellow will develop the Aston Eye Clinic by increasing clinical activity, expanding services, and enhancing financial and community standing. They will support new academic initiatives aligned with the Aston 2030 strategy, strengthen clinical links for student opportunities, boost research capacity through clinical engagement, and build partnerships to raise Aston University’s profile and impact and will actively promote the programme by establishing and maintaining memberships, links, and partnerships with academic, industry, and professional communities.
