The opportunity
We are seeking a Lecturer in Psychology to join our Science Programme at the Fashion Business School.
This unique role focuses on the application of psychology within the context of fashion and related industries. You will lead teaching, curriculum development and ongoing scholarly work on our Psychology courses, helping students understand human behaviour through a fashion lens.
As part of a collaborative psychology team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, integrating innovative, critical and inclusive approaches to pedagogy. You will provide academic and pastoral support to a designated year group, monitor student progress and attendance, maintain accurate records and liaise with colleagues to ensure a high-quality learning experience.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will engage in research and scholarship that informs your practice and contributes to the School’s academic profile, with a particular focus on psychological themes relevant to fashion, identity, sustainability and consumer behaviour.
About you
The successful candidate will have a relevant postgraduate degree (or equivalent) and some experience of teaching and assessment in a Higher Education setting. A PhD in a related area, a teaching qualification (such as a PGCert), Fellowship of Advance HE or Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society are also desirable.
Your subject specialism should include social psychology, with a particular interest in consumer or organisational psychology as applied to fashion businesses. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences in an inclusive and accessible manner.
Evidence of research, teaching, knowledge exchange or professional practice aligned with the UAL strategic goals is desirable. The role also requires a collaborative working style and a strong commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and enhancing the student experience.
