About Us

The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of six Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London. The School unites over 400 experts in women and children’s health, nutritional sciences, population health and the molecular genetics of human disease. Our research links the causes of common health problems to life’s landmark stages, treating life, disease and healthcare as a continuum. We are interdisciplinary by nature and this innovative approach works: 91 per cent of our research submitted to the Subjects Allied to Medicine (Pharmacy, Nutritional Sciences and Women's Health cluster) for REF was rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. We use this expertise to teach the next generation of health professionals and research scientists. Based across King’s Denmark Hill, Guy’s, St Thomas’ and Waterloo campuses, our academic programme of teaching, research and clinical practice is embedded across five Departments.

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a senior programme officer who can support the delivery of our highly successful online MSc in Public Health which annually recruits up to 100 students.  You will join a programme team who are passionate and enthusiastic about public health and ensuring our students receive an excellent educational experience.

The purpose of the role is to provide administrative support and guidance across all programme delivery activity, including assessment, for online postgraduate taught programmes, in particular the Masters in Public Health, adhering to regulations and approved processes and procedures. The post holder would provide a high quality, comprehensive and professional service that meets agreed standards and expectations, providing excellent service and support for our students.

The post holder supports the delivery of two online MSc Public Health programmes (“old” and “new” pathways) in the department, working closely with the Programme Director and teaching team to assure excellent educational provision.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria:

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to plan effectively across competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail with methodical, exacting standards of written and numerical accuracy
  • Excellent IT experience across all Microsoft packages; advanced Excel user
  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment with a knowledge of how to address complaints and service setbacks in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Ability to make timely informed decisions, independently resolve problems and identify when to escalate risk
  • Ability to form professional networks and contribute positively to supporting change

Desirable criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Previous HE or administrative experience
  • Experience of using student records systems (SITS) and of production of analytical reporting
  • Experience of programme governance and delivering professional committee servicing
