We are looking for a Collection Development Manager who starts conversations, builds partnerships, and leads change. Over the next five to ten years our collections will be redesigned end to end, from the make-up of the collection to how it is catalogued, shelved, archived, accessed, procured, and responsibly deaccessioned. You will be at the centre of that transformation.
About the role
You will be responsible for the operational management of print and digital collections, using robust analysis and scenario modelling to shape medium and long-term strategies that support research and education across all faculties. You will undertake reviews of stock across multiple sites, plan storage and resequencing changes, and implement significant, evidence-led decisions, including withdrawals where appropriate. You will consult closely with academic stakeholders and senior managers, and provide specialist advice on collections data, copyright and educational licences, digital asset management, and national shared services. You will line manage the Collections Management Team and lead small project teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
About you
You bring substantial experience of collections management and development in an academic context, with the skill to analyse complex data and turn it into clear recommendations and reports. You plan and prioritise effectively, influence and negotiate effectively, and communicate with clarity. You have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience, understand sector trends in access and supply models, and can support people through change with empathy and focus. Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
