Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 12th January 2026
Closes: 23rd January 2026
Job Ref: XX154426

We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.

Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

We are delighted to announce that we are seeking to appoint a full-time, fixed term Research Fellow to support a recently funded large scale mixed methods project to investigate the use of restrictive practices in a range of health care settings for children and young people with eating disorders. We are looking for someone with a track record in overseeing clinical research, collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, conducting reviews, working across research sites, collating and reporting upon findings, co-ordinating key events and working to support a multi-site research team. The role will also involve supporting meetings and events internally and externally and communication with partners as part of this award. Excellent communication and IT skills and a commitment to co-production and inclusivity will be an important part of this role. Experience of research with children and young people would be desirable.

This role is fixed term until 2029.

Hybrid working arrangements can be supported for this role in line with business need. Significant travel to clinical sites across England will be required for this post.

Informal Enquiries: Professor Joy Duxbury | Joy.Duxbury@cumbria.ac.uk | OR Katie Goodall | Katie.Goodall@cumbria.ac.uk

We are seeking innovative, creative, high quality researchers, and scholars to foster a culture of exploration, discovery and intellectual challenge that generates international recognition, respect and engagement.

In return, the University offers an attractive benefits package including 35 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, 25 research and scholarly activity days, support for professional development, support to achieve Higher Education Academy/Advance HE accreditation, mentor provision in the first year of employment and opportunity for career development.
