Junior Pastry Sous Chef

Kellogg College, Oxford University’s largest graduate college is seeking an inspiring and professional Junior Pastry Sous Chef who will play a role in overseeing the operation of the kitchen and ensuring that food is prepared to a high standard.

The Role

The Junior Sous Chef will lead by example, providing inspiration and motivation to the team, whilst demonstrating high degrees of skill in food preparation and presentation of a consistently high standard and quality, with a particular emphasis on desserts and sweets. You will help to manage and monitor food deliveries, ensuring receipt and storage of all food.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Junior Sous Chef with:

• Experience in supervising a catering operation, overseeing and managing staff, producing reports, costings, menus and paperwork as required, or experience in the kitchen but ready to take the next step in development
• Excellent culinary skills, with the ability to create menus for both daily catering and special events with good food cost control skills
• Ability to communicate and relate professionally with clients, customers, colleagues, other staff and managers
• A base level of skill in producing pastry and cakes with a desire to improve and gain new skills
