We are seeking a team-player to appoint as Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer, on the teaching and scholarship track, in Anatomy.  This person will have an excellent track record of teaching and academic administration, and a capacity for innovation within their discipline.  We will look for a passion to communicate their subject to the next generation of scientists and medical students at undergraduate level, and to develop exciting and engaging learning opportunities.

You will join the vibrant team of academic, technical, and professional services staff in the delivery of our world-class MBChB, BSc and Science teaching programmes. The post will be located in the University’s Suttie Centre, on the Foresterhill Healthcare Campus, adjacent to the Aberdeen Royal infirmary, Institute of Medical Sciences and Rowett Institute.

This post is available now, on an open ended basis.  It is designed to contribute to and lead teaching across a range of programmes where anatomy is a key component primarily to medicine and science students. The individual appointed will join an enthusiastic, hard-working team led by our Regius Professor of Anatomy, Simon Parson, and will be based in the Suttie Centre, Foresterhill, a modern, purpose-built facility https://www.abdn.ac.uk/suttie-centre/index.php where Anatomy labs, office space, storage, display and other teaching spaces are located. Depending on experience, you will quickly develop to lead courses, programmes and functions in Anatomy to support Professor Parson.

Anatomy teaching at Aberdeen is well-regarded locally and nationally, and you will have the opportunity to be a part of this success. We strive to deliver excellent, student-centred education and constantly seek to improve and innovate. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, lead and contribute to a range of modern teaching opportunities, where we encourage problem solving and understanding ahead of memorisation. We have excellent, modern facilities including upgraded digital resources and learning spaces.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 scale for Lecturers (£47,389 - £56,535 per annum, pro rata), and Grade 8 scale for Senior Lecturers (£59,966 - £67,468 per annum, pro rata) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.

Informal enquiries should be made to Regius Professor Simon Parson (e-mail: simon.parson@abdn.ac.uk).

Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK.  This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route under the UKVI immigration rules but is dependent on factors specific to the candidate and if tradeable points can be used under the rules.
