The University of Liverpool are seeking an experienced IS Operations Manager to join the Information Systems team at Liverpool Clinical Trials Centre.
Clinical trials depend on robust, reliable technology infrastructure. We need someone who can take ownership of day-to-day operations, keep our systems running smoothly, and ensure we meet the stringent regulatory requirements of clinical research. You'll be the person who makes sure things work – managing incidents, coordinating changes, and keeping stakeholders informed.
This is a senior role with real responsibility. You'll lead incident response, oversee change management, and line manage operational staff. You'll work closely with the Head of Software Development, freeing them to focus on strategic development while you ensure operational excellence across our REDCap systems, randomisation platforms, and bespoke .NET applications.
The role requires relevant technical foundations – you'll need solid SQL skills, Windows application support experience, and the ability to troubleshoot production issues under pressure. But equally important is your ability to communicate clearly, manage stakeholders at all levels, and stay calm when things go wrong.
No clinical or medical background is required, though you must be comfortable working in a regulated environment where documentation, process, and compliance matter. Experience in financial services, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other regulated sectors would be particularly valuable.
You should have relevant experience in IT operations or production support, with demonstrable incident and change management experience.
Commitment to Diversity
The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
