About the Role
The post is for a Research Technician in the Endothelial Signalling group of Dr Raimondi. This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 1 year. The post holder will support the programme of work funded by Barts Charity to characterise novel mechanisms of blood pressure regulation in a mouse model. The successful candidate will undertake a variety of laboratory techniques to ensure the successful delivery of the project’s objectives.
About You
You should be independent and self-motivated, with a BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant biological or biomedical science discipline. You should have experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular and biochemical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, and protein, RNA or DNA handling. Experience with molecular immunology and specifically recombinant antibody technology, protein–protein interactions, cell biology or cell imaging is desirable but not essential.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
You will be part of the expanding group of Dr Raimondi at the William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University of London. The lab investigates signalling pathways involved in endothelial and vascular homeostasis, with particular interest in how endothelial cell junctions regulate vascular inflammation. This project will assess whether a novel protein–protein complex identified by the lab can be exploited as a therapeutic target. The work will involve generating and characterising antibodies against this complex and evaluating their therapeutic potential by applying biochemical, molecular, and cell biology techniques. The post holder will work closely with the Antibody Facility at WHRI to develop, characterise and validate these antibodies, while also contributing to cell-based functional assays.
