As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and research on the MA Animation Postgraduate Course. This course is part of the Screen School, MIDA, MA Animation at London College of Communication.

The post-holder will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions. 

You will be responsible for a year group of postgraduate students’ pastoral support, progress and attendance, maintaining records and liaising with colleagues as appropriate. You will provide pedagogic and curriculum development that stimulate thought and practice that challenge the canon of this subject area with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity.

You will use your academic and/or industry-based experience to support the development of student work. You’ll be proactive and actively contribute to the programme’s aims and vision.  

This responsibility is of immediate strategic importance and may develop or change in the light of new priorities.  

Your profile 

You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of 2D Animation and 2D Experimental Animation in an academic and/or professional setting and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields. 

You are an experienced educator with an active profile as a filmmaker, artist, creative practitioner and/or researcher. 

You enjoy working with postgraduate students and helping them develop ambitious, original and critically engaged work. You bring current professional practice into your teaching and value experimentation, curiosity and collaboration. 

Your work may include short film, documentary animation, experimental film, expanded or immersive animation, installation, artist moving image or innovative 2D animation. Whatever your specialism, you are interested in pushing the boundaries of 2D animation and encouraging others to do the same. 

You are committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where students can build confidence, develop their own creative voice and prepare for careers as artists, filmmakers and researchers.
