The University of Roehampton is currently recruiting for Security Supervisors to join our in-house Security Service, providing 24-hour cover across the entire University Estate. The post holders will each supervise and manage a small team of officers, ensuring that staff carry out duties successfully and that shifts are effectively managed. This will involve implementing polices and procedures so that the safeguarding of our students, staff, visitors and the University estate is protected. You will be expected to work on an annualised rotating shift pattern which is focused to meet the University’s in and out of term activities. The service is centrally located on main campus although your duties will take you to all other sites patrolling on 11 and 12 hour shifts.
The post-holder will communicate with all staff on shift, ensuring staff are fully briefed and all necessary information is translated at all times. Communication will vary at all levels and the post-holder is expected to take charge of any incident in the absence of the Head of Security.
The ideal candidate will have proven supervisory experience working in an operational environment, using their initiative to make operational decisions, without recourse to management, particularly outside standard working hours.
The successful candidate will be required to travel to various University sites, therefore a driving licence will be required and you should also be able to demonstrate a good customer focused work record.
Successful candidates must hold and maintain a valid Security Industry Authority Licence to Door Supervisor level. Applicants without a valid Door Supervisor will not be accepted.
Whilst the roles are full time, we are actively seeking to increase the diversity of our workforce and will consider requests for part-time hours.
This is an exciting time for the University; we have increased the number of study bedrooms on campus and our new £35m state-of-the art library has opened to great acclaim and with increased footfall and we are continuing to develop a number of external partnerships across the globe.
We have a strong emphasis on supporting our students to reach their full potential to launch themselves onto successful graduate careers and we are embarking on a radical programme of enhancement in learning and teaching across all our academic areas.
The University has a beautiful, parkland campus, is located in the heart of south-west London and offers excellent facilities for researching, learning, teaching and working. We are proud of our achievements as a Post 1992 University and continue to build upon them.

In addition, an allowance of £2,207 per annum will be payable for staff whose hours are subject to a shift pattern providing cover on a 24 hours a day, 365 days a year basis. This sum is pensionable and subject to the same rate of cost of living increase as the salary. For example a cost of living award 1% applied to salary would also be applied to this allowance.
