About the Role
We are seeking a Library Supervisor in the Study Environment team, who will be responsible for managing a team of about 3-4 Library Assistants and take day to day responsibility for the standards of service and first impressions offered to library users across three sites, each with a distinctive character of their own.
You will work closely with the Manager for the Study Environment service. The Study Environment is used by the whole university community, including a very high number of taught students at peak times.
The Supervisors also act as Duty Supervisor, taking charge of day to day running of the onsite services on a rota basis. The Study Environment Supervisor role focusses on ensuring that all varieties of study space in the libraries are calm and comfortable, and that equipment and facilities managed by this team are in good working order. You will also have a role in the smooth running of the library buildings during some large scale building improvement works over the next two years, and some service improvement projects.
The post is permanent with an immediate start date. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £34,733 - £40,797 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
You will have excellent communication skills, excel at multi-tasking and be calm under pressure. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or be qualified by substantial experience. You will have experience of working in a higher education library.
