The role

The post is funded to support the external engagement of EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Hub led by the University of Nottingham. The Hub is part of the Bristol Composites Institute, a University of Bristol Specialist Research Institute currently comprises a core team of 30 academic staff and 200+ research staff and postgraduate students based in the Faculty of Engineering.  High profile activities include the EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training and EngD Industrial Doctorate Centre in Composites Manufacture; the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Research Hub and the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre.  The Bristol Composites Institute liaises closely with the National Composites Centre in R&D activities, helping to bridge the gap between academic research and its application within industry.

This is a 0.5 fte part time role which can be combined with NCC Liaison Manager (Ref: SUPP107659) which is also a 0.5 fte role to form a single full time role

What will you be doing?

  • You will be supporting the exploitation of outputs from the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Hub led by the University of Nottingham.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the Hub, the Bristol Composites Institute and with the University’s Research and Enterprise Development team, you will be exploring opportunities to commercialise and exploit research.
  • You will be identifying and contacting companies that may be interested in composites research and work closely with the relevant academics to enable them to generate maximum impact from their research.

You should apply if

  • You have excellent organisational and communication skills and a pro-active approach to seeking new opportunities to develop relationships between research and industry.
  • You have the ability to engage with and influence academics and senior staff inside and outside the University in order to initiate and execute complex projects.
  • You are experienced in research management and exploitation of research outcomes, across both industrial and academic sectors.
  • You have good understanding of how industry, academia and government work together with the ability and credibility to work effectively within these environments.
