You will support the institute’s functions and will be initially assigned to the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine. These departments are spread over several sites across central campus, with one off-campus.
Your primary role function will be core laboratory support including housekeeping, health and safety, maintenance of equipment, training of researchers and students on shared equipment, and more.
You must have a “can-do attitude”, adaptable, and have a flexible attitude to work as they will be asked to support other departments or sites within the Institute of Systems, Molecular & Integrative Biology such as the School of Life Sciences e.g. setting up practicals for the undergraduate modules.
A large proportion of the job is core laboratory support, but occasionally, there will be opportunities to provide technical and experimental research support for members of academic staff, as well as high-quality experimental support on a cost-recovery model, but this will be limited. It is important to understand that this role is not a dedicated research technician on a specific research project.
You must have a BTEC Higher Level (or equivalent) and experience in a similar role. Ideally you will hold a degree in a relevant subject.
