The Office of the Vice-Chancellor (OVC) comprises staff based on our Colchester and Southend campuses.
Members of the University’s senior management team are based in the OVC, including the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and Secretary, Pro-Vice-Chancellors for Research and Education, the Deputy Registrars, Dean of Partnerships, Dean of Postgraduate Research and Education, Chief of Staff, Deputy University Secretary, Assistant Registrar, and the Campus Manager (Southend).
The OVC is also home to three teams who provide dedicated support to the University’s management and governance functions. These teams:
The Governance Office provides high quality secretarial support for the University’s corporate and project governance committees and meetings of the executive leadership team, and supports the enhancement of the University’s corporate governance arrangements and its compliance with regulatory requirements, and comprises the Deputy University Secretary, the Head of Corporate Governance, Governance Officer, Projects Governance Officer, Governance Support Officer, Governance Assistant and Administrative Assistants.
A review of the size and shape of the Governance Office is currently being undertaken, making it an exciting time to join to the team.
Duties of the Role
The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality committee servicing and administrative support, and to contribute to the work of the wider Governance Officer, in order to ensure the effective operation of the University’s corporate governance arrangements.
Duties will include maintaining accurate membership records, managing the Governance Office budget and procurement activities and serve as secretary to University working, advisory, and task and finish groups.
Skills and qualifications required
The post holder will need to have excellent administrative, planning and communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a busy and complex organisation. It is essential that the successful candidate is able to work under pressure in order to provide effective support for corporate committee meetings and events.
