An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Performance & Events Team as a Technical Instructor. ITMS strive to enhance the experience of students and staff in learning, teaching, research and business operations. We provide guidance on the adoption of appropriate technologies, systems and services in a rapidly developing environment and help people to embrace technology as it becomes embedded within university life. Our services include a cross-campus communications infrastructure, desktop equipment for students in learning areas and for staff in work areas, email, central business systems, audio-visual facilities to support teaching, virtual and managed learning environments. Our mission is to provide effective, efficient and economic IT and media services for the organisation to enable people to make the best opportunity of their time at DMU.
Role
You will be part of a team of Technical Instructors responsible for the delivery of an effective support service to students, primarily in our Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities (ADH). Alongside this, you will be supporting all internal and external events, such as Open days and Graduations. You will have previous experience in supporting live events from a variety of formats (lectures, conferences, concerts etc.) You will use your expertise to advise and offer suitable support working with a varied customer base. The role will require you to keep up to date with current technologies, whilst also maintaining equipment within the Performance and Events team.
We are looking for candidates with excellent customer service experience and technical knowledge to enable the efficient delivery of teaching and support of large-scale events.
Ideal Candidate
You will have excellent team working, communication, organisational and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with customers at all levels. In addition, you must be a strong team player who can analyse and prioritise your own workload to meet challenging deadlines. You will be expected to be flexible and react quickly to changing priorities whilst maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.
You will have experience of operating lighting, sound and video equipment during live performances and events. You are able to work with both staff and students to develop and advise technical support through to assessments and performances. You can deliver engaging technical workshops to students within drama, performing arts and dance
