We are looking to appoint a Deputy Research Manager within the Clinical School team at the Research Operations Office (ROO). You would need to have a broad skill set in people management, high level of numeracy to check research budgets and reporting, and able to take responsibility to deliver excellent service through the team.
You would support researchers, departmental administrators, internal offices and external research stakeholders in providing information on University and sponsor policies and answering any grant specific queries. This role contributes to policy development for the financial administration of externally funded research.
Reporting directly to the Research Support Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Finance Analysts - Research and Grants across the ROO to ensure policies and procedures are up to date and appropriate. Occasionally you work on specific projects as necessary with the Research Support Managers and Assistant Directors.
You would provide a first line of expertise and guidance on complex administrative issues for the Finance Analysts - Research and Grants within ROO, contributing to training needs and workload management for a given team.
Applicants will have practical experience of working in finance and research grants administration. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, together with a proactive, mature attitude, be an excellent team player and good at multi- tasking. Educated to first degree level, or with equivalent level of knowledge and experience, you will be able to prioritise workloads as well as managing tight deadlines.

We have embraced hybrid working and we are currently trialling in-person working within teams 2 days per week from Greenwich House. This arrangement is currently temporary. Some roles may require additional onsite working according to business need and this is subject to discussion with the recruiting manager.
Fixed-term: 1 year as temporary cover for the substantive post holder.
