Lectureship in Clinical Pharmaceutics

This post is being recruited as part of UCC Futures- Future Medicines

UCC Futures - Future Medicines combines a multidisciplinary team of renowned world leading scientists, engineers and clinician investigators at University College Cork and affiliated hospitals to deliver high-impact, transformational, next generation medicines and medical technologies.

It leverages the expertise and infrastructure across multiple Schools in UCC’s College of Medicine & Health, in addition to UCC Research Centres and Institutes including APC Microbiome Ireland and our flagship Tyndall National Institute.   This unique translational environment will become a magnet for small & medium enterprise and multi-national corporation investment in the region particularly across the biopharma, healthcare and medtech sectors. 

UCC Futures - Future Medicines is creating step-change advancements in earlier detection, faster prognosis and targeted treatments to reduce the global health burden and improve quality-of-life for patients with chronic conditions, such as cancer, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, neurological, and inflammatory diseases. 

This new Fixed Term Lectureship in Clinical Pharmaceutics is aligned to ‘UCC Futures’ programme  and specifically ‘Future Medicines’ – a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and clinician investigators at UCC, working collaboratively to advance the translation of next generation medicines and medical technologies for diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases. Applications are particularly welcome from those whose research expertise is translational and/or transformative in the context of patient-focused pharmacotherapy, for example, in one or more of the following thematic areas in Future medicines:

  • Computational Pharmaceutics and model informed pharmacotherapy
  • Pharmacometrics and precision drug delivery
  • Medicine optimisation for special populations
  • Advancing pharmaceutical care with digital technologies

The successful candidate will be expected to have the capability to undertake high-quality, impactful, and internationally competitive research that aligns with UCC Futures, with the ambition and potential for securing competitive funding such as ERC or SFI early-career stage grants.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated potential for contributing to the teaching, research, and scholarly activity in the School. The successful candidate will be involved in lecturing across a range of programmes in the School, specifically in lecturing on principles of Pharmaceutics and Clinical Pharmacy on the MPharm degree and MSc Clinical Pharmacy degree.  The successful candidate will be expected teach pharmacy students at our international partner, Future University in Egypt (FUE) and to undertake international travel to FUE (usually between one to two 5-day visits per academic year). 

The successful appointee will hold an academic qualification to PhD/Doctorate level in Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics or Pharmacy related discipline and be registered (or be eligible to register) as a pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).

Appointment may be made on the Lecturer (below the bar) Scale €37,168 - €65,127 (Scale B) / €39,156 - €61,971 (Scale A)

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
