The University of East London (UEL) is currently enjoying exciting opportunities to grow and diversify it’s offering to align with our 2028 vision that is an ambitious 10-year strategy to become the UK’s leading careers-intensive university. This is an incredibly appealing time to be joining the Department for Applied Sport and Exercise Sciences, as we grow and capitalise on opportunities across the expanding sport, exercise and wellbeing sectors.
We are seeking a full time clinic coordinator for the UEL Sports Injury Clinic. This is an exciting opportunity to join the sports therapy team who are invested in the delivery of high-quality education to our students, and champion continuous professional development within sports therapy and musculoskeletal healthcare and rehabilitation.
Following the recent relaunch of clinic in September 2022, in which it successfully opened its doors to UEL students and staff, we are seeking an ambitious clinical co-ordinator, to harness the opportunity to develop the current service into a commercial operation that serves the community in addition to sporting and UEL populations.
Furthermore, the clinic is a student led service, in which our BSc Sports Therapy students gain professional experience, delivering MSK services within a clinical setting. Work experience & expert knowledge in Sports Therapy is essential to prepare our students for future careers as well as gaining accreditation with the Society for Sports Therapists. You will therefore have the skills to support growth & development of our students’ clinical skills as well as interpersonal skills required to create a supportive, educational environment, which facilitates the development of our students into competent, confident professionals upon graduation.
You will also liaise with and provide support to our expanding network of industry partners & placement hosts and carry out appropriate administrative and governance duties. Working as part of an exciting, dynamic, award winning and diverse team, covering a wide portfolio of specialties, you will supervise the delivery of services such as injury consultations and sports massage.
Additionally, as a placement provider, you will be required to plan & deliver engaging CPD sessions to develop skills across the SST competencies, ensuring to stay up-to-date with ever-changing industry practices and provide research-informed practice throughout.
You will have a passion for and experience of student supervision in higher education and a strong commitment to the student experience and careers-first delivery. Experience within the delivery of MSK healthcare across a range of settings is an advantage.
Based at our Docklands & Stratford campuses, our School brings together UEL’s innovative research & teaching. We have a successful & expanding portfolio of taught & exciting new postgraduate programmes. You will be primarily based at SportsDock, the university’s world-class sports facility. Opened in 2011, the £21 million facility was the training base for Team USA in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Since then we’ve also hosted sports teams & organisations both professional & amateur, as well as competitions on a local an& d global scale. Our sports scholars include Olympians & senior internationals who represent UEL at national & international university competitions, many of whom we are proud to say study on our Applied Sport & Exercise Science courses. This blended environment of teaching within a working university sports facility exposes students to many extra-curricular opportunities from our East London Sport & Workforce Development teams.
