This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Centre for Cancer Sciences, an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary group of around 35 academics working on cancer research and education. We wish to appoint a scientist with outstanding potential within the fields of tumour microenvironment, cancer immunology, cancer bioinformatics, or cancer epidemiology. You will be able to build your independent scientific career in a collaborative and supportive environment in state-of-the-art new buildings with excellent equipment and technical support. You will be involved in delivering and developing both the research and teaching aspects of the Centre, including supporting and teaching on our new undergraduate BSc and MSci courses in Cancer Sciences, which admitted their first students in September 2019.
You will be supported to build a research group, develop new concepts and principles, and learn how to contribute to, design and gain support for research proposals from funding agencies. You will develop skills to devise, advise on and manage learning and research programmes, and you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the Centre via leadership, administrative, management and co-ordination of specific initiatives.
You must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area, and be able to demonstrate a publication record, ideally with a consistent track record of published research in peer reviewed journals. Experience and demonstrated success in delivering teaching within an agreed quality framework, preferably in a research-intensive higher education establishment, would be an advantage. You should have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts to those with limited knowledge as well as to peers, using a range of media.
The post is offered on a permanent basis and is available to commence from 1st June 2023. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. Job share arrangements may be considered.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Kevin Gaston, email Kevin.Gaston@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
