About our School/Directorate and Team: The Marketing, Student Recruitment, Admissions and Communications Group is at the heart of attracting, engaging, and delivering exceptional student and stakeholder experiences. From award-winning marketing campaigns to local and global student recruitment initiatives and communications, our Group delivers professional services that support the University’s strategic ambitions to put Heriot-Watt on the global stage.

Purpose of Role: Reporting to the Academic Schools Marketing Officer, this role is responsible for developing and delivering professional marketing initiatives to promote degree programmes, research, and reputation in STEM subjects, to grow student recruitment in line with our Strategy 2025 ambitions.

Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

From marketing planning to the delivery of targeted online and offline campaigns and conversion tactics, we’re looking for a passionate and creative marketer, able to deliver the following:

  • Delivery of marketing plan – Work with the Academic Schools Marketing Manager to develop and implement marketing activities agreed for the STEM subject area
  • Conversion – Create and implement marketing activities that deliver conversion of student recruitment applications e.g., Offer Holder Days, CRM nurture programmes, direct marketing
  • Brand Identity & Proposition – Work with the Academic Schools Marketing Manager and relevant Head of Schools to shape and implement the brand identity to showcase School KSPs, in line with Heriot-Watt brand development
  • Content marketing – Create, distribute, and monitor effectiveness of content across multiple channels aimed at attracting and growing our audience
  • Social Media - Create and manage content calendar for School social media channels and campaigns that showcase students, programmes, and academic activities within the STEM subject area, working closely with the Content & Social Media team

Education, Qualifications & Experience:

These are the criteria on which the short-listing and recruitment selection will be made

Essential

  1. Educated to at least SCQF level 6-7 or equivalent practical experience in the workplace
  2. Proven experience in a marketing role
  3. Analytical problem-solving skills
  4. Strong IT/ digital media skills
  5. Experience of developing and distributing a wide range of written and visual content across multiple channels and using a range of mediums (web content, social media content, videos, and print)

Desirable

  1. Experience of working in marketing within Higher Education and/or STEM-related organisation
  2. Knowledge of the admissions recruitment cycle of Higher Education and student recruitment
  3. Good understanding of range of software packages such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  4. Experience of working within Content Management System (CMS)
