An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a passionate and friendly Business Development Team working in the Conference and Hospitality department at Lancaster University.
The Conference and Hospitality team manage the Lancaster Conference Centre, Private Dining Room, the Lancaster suite at the Castle and Forrest Hills, plus 80 guest rooms. During the vacation they also have access to the key academic teaching spaces and up to 1000 student rooms to enable them to welcome large residential conferences onto campus.
The key focus of the Business Development Manager is to build robust relationships with existing key customers and with potential new customers through targeting companies, associations, conference agents, and Lancaster University’s internal departments.
Overall, the position will play a significant role in helping to position Lancaster as a key Conference and Events destination in the Northwest of England and be responsible for maximising all sales and business development opportunities.
Candidates will have experience of working within a proactive commercial sales team environment with the role requiring strong sales and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage University stakeholders and external partners. The successful candidate will be flexible, customer focused and target-driven and enjoy working in a fast-changing and highly competitive environment.
Experience of sales in the hospitality industry is desirable. The role requires local and national travel, attendance at key trade exhibitions and events and some weekend work.
