UEA has some of the most innovative and highly regarded centres for research in the UK.  Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Associate to undertake research in collaboration with Dr Anne Killett and researchers and practitioners in order to study the involvement of older care home residents in research.  CHAPPI (Care Home Activity Providers facilitating Public Involvement in research as meaningful activity for care home residents) is funded by the National Institute of Health Research by their Research for Social Care funding stream to learn about how older care home residents and researchers can collaborate in research.

You will lead the set-up of the project, data collection and interpretation, working closely with the team of co-investigators and with senior researchers on linked projects.  You will deliver elements of scoping reviews and qualitative data collection and analysis. The project offers the opportunity to collaborate with major national organisations (NAPA, Skills for Care) and leading researchers in the field (DACHA, TIMES, VICHTA).

Whilst the research will be based at the University of East Anglia in the School of Health Sciences, the post will involve periodic travel in England to conduct field work.

You will require a relevant postgraduate research degree or equivalent professional experience in the research area and significant previous experience of independent research.  You should also have excellent oral and written communication skills relevant to successful field work in care home settings, and experience of presenting and writing-up research results for publication in peer-viewed books, conferences and/or journals; and be able to meet all the essential criteria set out in the Person Specification.

This part-time (0.5fte) post is available from 1 April 2023 for a fixed term period of 18 months. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
